Power of Attorney
What is a Durable Power of Attorney?
In Washington, you can sign a durable power of attorney to appoint someone to handle your financial and health care matters if you become unable to manage. A power of attorney is given broad powers, including the power to:
- Manage and transfer assets
- Deal with the IRS
- Deal with creditors
- Talk with medical personnel
A Durable power of attorney takes effect when signed, lasts throughout any disability you may have, and is extinguished when you die.
